Tie dye Kits
Chances are your daughter or son would like the "grooviest" birthday party possible, and we can help.

Ashley will provide the dye and other chemicals involved. Rubber bands, demonstrations on different types of dye and gloves will also be provided. Ashley is now equipped with Patience 3.5 beta version, which is proven compatible with youth 5 and up.

You need to provide: A place to dye (a backyard or a garage with a drop cloth) running water access (both warm and cold water should be available preferably within the area we are dying), a microwave. You will also need to provide one Diet Coke per 5 children to keep Ashley a well-oiled machine. (Note, the Diet Coke is NOT required.)

PLEASE NOTE: One adult helper per every four children is needed if children are ages six and under. One adult helper for every seven children if ages seven and older.

Prices for birthday parties depend upon many circumstances. Items to be dyed will be negotiable. You can have the kids each bring their own 100% cotton item, or you can purchase them from Ashley. T-shirts are the most popular choice, but some suggestions for other types of items to dye are: bandanas, cotton gloves, hats, tote bags, and shoelaces, all of which Ashley (usually) has on hand.

What will happen:

Before Ashley arrives: Please have the name of each of the kids e-mailed to Ashley, along with names on the items with permanent marker (if you are providing the pre-washed, blank (to be dyed) item). Also have a large garbage can ready to go for gloves and the tarp when it comes to clean up time. If Ashley is bringing the items to tie-dye, please give her at least one week notice on sizes/items chosen.

One hour before scheduled "time to dye": Ashley arrives, and is shown the area that dying will take place.

45 minutes before scheduled "time to dye": Ashley will have laid a tarp on the ground, filled rinse buckets, given each participant a ziploc bag with his/her name on the bag, prepared a place to tie up the items and laid out samples of how to tie different patterns in the items.

30 minutes before scheduled "time to dye": Ashley will show the kids how to prepare the items and help them get the items rubber banded. Once the items are rubber banded and ready to go, Ashley will assist the participants in putting their items in a bucket of Soda Ash to start the chemical reactions for the dying process. The items will soak in the soda ash for 20 minutes. Please have another activity ready for the participants at this time. Ashley is NOT willing to be a pinata or jungle gym at this time.

10 minutes before scheduled "time to dye": Ashley will ask for someone to hand out gloves to all participants. Non-latex and non-powdered gloves will be available upon request. The colors (at least six will be provided) will be shown to all participants and techniques to dye will be also be shown.

It's "Time to Dye": Ashley will assist participants in dying their items. Depending upon the size of group, this could take a really long time or a really short time. Young kids (ages 5-8) should have an adult to assist. If we will not be in the grass, buckets to catch extra dye will be provided, so that the floor will not be soaking wet.

After we have dyed: Each participant will be given washing and care instructions for the items. Each participant will also be given a coupon redeemable for a discount on a birthday party of his or her own or a discount for an item purchased through Groovy Panda. Ashley will need a place to dump dye (a drain) and a place to throw away the tarp. Clean up usually takes about 15 minutes and adult assistants would be appreciated for this task.
